                                                            Little ‘Sister’

Pain, and blackness surrounded him…  The world spun and fire ran through his veins.

The agony that had eaten at him did not stop; it simply moved inside of him. Darkness, black as thick, smothering velvet lay over him.

Slowly, ever so slowly, a tendril of fire crept through him. It wormed its way through his veins, licking tiny hot trails through every inch of him. As the fire assaulted him with agonizing slowness, it settled behind his eyes. He knew his eyes were like the trails of fire; hot, yellow, devouring; yet he couldn’t see through the smothering blackness surrounding him.

‘Last fire will rise, behind those eyes

Black house will rock, blind boys don't lie’

Voices dim in his ears…  Voices that should be feared, for they carried the blackness and fire. They continued on and on, existing forever if they could. They delighted in destruction, in pain and the blackness of night.

Those that could see them, might scream. Scream as they saw the fire, the darkness, the night seeking to suck them into its very depths.

As it had dragged him down with it.

‘Immortal Fear, that voice so clear

Through broken walls, that scream I hear’

There was light in the darkness, a light of shadows. Yet the fire still burned. It was constant now.

Looking, seeking, wanting, hungering…

“Welcome, brother. You are one of us now and all are as brother and sister to each

other.  We are your family now”

* Family? But I burn, I hunger, I need… I fear. *

“We’ll teach you everything you need to know now. We will be everything to you. We shall protect you and as you become stronger, you will help protect us. We are family.”

‘Cry little sister

(Thou shall not fall)

Come, come to your brother

(Thou shall not die)

Unchain me sister

(Thou shall not Fear)

Love is with your brother

(Thou shall not kill) ‘

“First, we must take care of those that knew you.”

* Take care of them? How do we do that? I don’t understand. I feel pain, I burn, I need, I Hunger! *

They entered a darkened house. As they hid in the darkness that surrounded them, the fire of their eyes lit the night.

A small female, which looked like one of the pair of eyes, filled with fire… More pain; quickly followed by sweetness, warmth that did not burn, filling, satisfaction, sensation.

Screaming!

An older one, one that was male. Each the same. The quick pain, the sweetness and warmth in the hidden darkness.

“You did well. They are all gone now. They cannot see you any longer. Only the stars can see them now.”

Lips touched.

“What a sweet little sister she was… “

                                    ****************************************

He learned to use the darkness well. He would slip through the night on silent killing feet. The fire of his eyes belied the sweetness of the face hidden in the shadows.

“This one.” He told them. “ They will have a Ball. We should go. You can have any you want, except THAT one.”

They entered freely with the darkness around them, trailing the sweet scent of fear.

They kept the fire hidden, closed away.

So many arrived, all masked; laughing, the scent of warmth and life filling them like ambrosial perfume. So mortal.

Many were lead outside into the darkness only to find the ultimate night.

‘Blue Masquerade, strangers look on

When will they learn, this loneliness

Temptation heat, beats like a drum

Deep in your veins’

All but one.

A quick twist of the wrist, no one saw. She was not feeling well and retired for the night.

Deep in the shadows of the room, he waited. His patience and cunning was all for her.

He could smell the sweetness, the warmth, the life. It was like a drug to him. Especially from this one. This one was his.

And after him, she’d belong to no one else.

‘My Shangri-la,

I can't forget

Why you were mine,

I need you now’

She slipped into the bed. He waited in the shadows.

Her breathing slowed as sleep crept closer to her. So did he.

He lifted her into his arms, holding her close. Her dazed eyes looked at him, tried to focus. She could not struggle.

The air was filled with the sweet intoxicating scent of perfumes blended of warmth, life, fear. It was ambrosial just to breathe it in…

Her eyes focused on his face finally. In the barest of whispers, she spoke. “William?”

He smiled at her. “Yes.”

The fire hidden behind his eyes came to life, filling her vision for moments; then they vanished to one side. She felt coolness as he nuzzled into the curve of her neck. One arm held her as the other hand stroked her body. Still she could not move or cry out.

The soft coolness became a hot burning pain that filled with darkness. It was that velvet blackness that swirled around her and smothered her as it fed at her neck.

He felt her heart flutter and knew she was close to the end. He licked at the punctures on her neck, trailed his tongue up to her jaw and then brushed his cool soft lips across her cooling ones.

She looked at him as the scent of her fear still sweetened the air, eyes wide.

He leaned close to make sure she heard his words; for they would be the last thing she would ever hear again.

“Am I still beneath you, Cicely?”

‘Cry little sister

(Thou shall not fall)

Come, come to your brother

(Thou shall not die)

Unchain me sister

(Thou shall not Fear)

Love is with your brother

(Thou shall not kill)’
