Summary:
>Before Crush> Spike is planning to tell Buffy finally that he loves her.
Note:
James Marsters sang this Tom Waits Song at his show on 3/3/01 It kept running
through my head and evolved into what Spike might have been thinking and doing
right before he told Buffy about his feelings.
Picture the Frame
Spike had
found a picture frame that he finally liked. It was simply but very elegant.
Just like the Slayer.
He had
one picture of her in particular that he really liked. It was small, but it was
just so.. her.
He’d
wanted to find something special to put it in to keep in the top part of his
crypt so he could look at it easily. If he had company, he could always turn it
face down or tuck it under something real quick.
He put
the small photo into the frame and set it on the box next to his chair. It made
his unbeating heart happy to just look at her in the photo, standing in the
sunlight.
His
golden love.
‘Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame’

He was
planning to tell her how he felt. It was all he could do sometimes to keep it
from her. And it was eating him alive. He didn’t expect her to fall into his
arms and declare her undying devotion to him. But he did think it might make a
difference to her. That she’d finally see what he saw, what her farm-boy had
seen.
First
things first though. He had to do some shopping for some new clothes. All she
ever saw him in was the black tee shirt and black jeans and his treasured
duster.
As evening fell, Spike was heading over to
the Mall. He’d not done something like this in so long...
He got
the sales girl to help him pick out the clothes. Something that would look good
on him and would get Buffy’s attention... he hoped!
On his
way back to his crypt with the new clothes, he remembered why he’d not done
this in a while.
It had
been bloody expensive!
‘I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
Every since I put your picture
In a frame’
He knew
she’d be at the Bronze that night. He dressed with shaking hands, knots tied in
his stomach. He’d not been able to eat all day. God, he was so nervous.
He looked
at the small photo in the frame again as he dressed in the new finery. He
thought about how beautiful she was, and how much he loved her.
He went
out to his car to drive to the Bronze. He was going to tell her...
‘I'm gonna love you
Till the wheels come off
Oh yea
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame’
