Buffy and Spike had just finished up an errand in LA for Angel Investigations and had gone with the entire LA gang, as they were now called, to a little nightspot that the ‘gang’ often frequented.

Buffy had excused herself to the ladies room a few minutes earlier and as she headed back toward their table, a good-looking man about Spike’s height with longish hair and beautiful blue eyes stumbled right into her.

Never saying a word, the man looked at Buffy as recognition passed through his eyes and he quickly wrapped both arms around her, kissing her like a thirsty man finding water in the desert then just as quickly releasing the petite blond slayer; sauntering away humming a tune to himself as Buffy stood in the middle of the floor amazed at what had just happened, as well as a bit excited by the stranger’s talented kiss that had just assaulted her senses, before returning to their table.

As Angel looked up and saw the man singing something about a ‘Rattlesnake Smile’ on stage, he turned to Buffy and Spike telling them, “That’s Lindsey McDonald of Wolfram & Hart, the evil law firm that has been making my life as miserable as possible; so if he sees you two, he’ll know who you are from all of their research. He’d like nothing more than to try to do just about anything behind my back or in front of my face, that he thought might irritate, injury or hurt me or any of us in anyway.”

Buffy was watching the man now identified as Lindsey, singing on the stage while she wondered if he had kissed her simply hoping that Angel would see him and become upset enough to start something; when Lindsey caught her eyes and flashed a smile at her that could melt most women into their socks from across the room.

Buffy returned the smile, realizing that she was just going to keep their brief encounter to herself as it had been no more than two ships passing through the night, before she turned back to rejoin the conversation at the table, leaving Lindsey’s kiss with his voice… behind her.
